When Mariangel Sanchez started as a bank teller in Reading with two small children she researched daycare centers and there were only one or two that had late hours and took infants. "The training classes I needed to take to develop my career required me to travel to Philadelphia or Allentown and I couldn't get home until  6 or 7." When she visited Second Street Learning Center she liked it immediately, "I liked the staff, they took really good care of my kids.  It felt like family in that they all knew who we were and what was going on with the kids."  Her daughter Araceli and her son Gerardo attended from when they were 6 wks old until 13 years old.  Mariangel commented,"The Second Street Learning center enabled me to get everything I needed to do at work without stressing about what was happening with my kids because I knew they were doing well. If it wasn’t for the learning center it would have been extremely difficult to achieve what I have because I don’t have any family members in the area that could watch my kids in the evenings." Today Mariangel is branch manager of the Wells Fargo location at Green Hills.  She recently awarded Opportunity House a large plush El Toro pony to our organization.  When asked about a favorite memory of the daycare she said, "The staff members that are still there still remember the kids and its still like family when they see each other.  Its still a happy hello and how are the kids doing."
