  • 11/24/2016 - Giving back is in the company's DNA
    Steve Moyer Subaru raised more than $20,000 for Opportunity House through its Share the Love fundraising campaign last year. The dealer started the same campaign with the nonprofit recently, and it will run through Jan 3. Steve Moyer, standing behind check on left, along with his employees and family members. Opportunity House President Modesto Hume is second from right, with an employee from the Children's Alliance Center.
  • 11/22/2016 - Income Generators - Some charities take approach of for-profit groups to raise money
    The Reading Eagle features the OppShop in the Business Weekly Section. The article focuses on non-profits taking a for-profit approach to generating funds for their programs. Oppshop not only raises money for Opportunity House but creates valuable jobs for residents and the community!
  • 11/15/2016 - Opportunity for a haircut for shelter residents
     Thanks to over 20 local hairstylists and barbers from American Barber Academy, Bell Tower, Cinergi Salon/Spa, Hair Cuttery, Salon Shampoo, Styles Underground, Sydias Hairsalon & Boutique, and United Artists Salon & Spa nearly 50 of our shelter residents received a free haircut and were able to take some time to treat themselves and relax today.   • 8/1/2016 - Local 10-year-old girl serves food to Opportunity House clients
    On July 25, 2016, Leah and her parents bought pizza to serve to our clients for lunch. After noticing a number of homeless people throughout the area, ten-year-old Leah immediately wanted to do something to help and make a difference. We are so thankful that the family chose to give back to our clients at Opportunity House.
  • 1/17/2016 - Dance party raises cash for technology center at Reading shelter
    Berks Youth in Action raised $19,000 for new technology in our learning center at the fifth annual RAVE on January 16.
  • 1/4/2016 - Wilson High School Wrestlers Battle Hunger at Opportunity House
    Eighteen wrestlers from Wilson High School volunteered their time to feed nearly 60 people at our shelter.
