Board of Directors Spotlight: Julie Ravis

This Stevens & Lee attorney joined our board last November, thanks to a colleague already active in a number of local charitable organizations. He knew Julie Ravis wanted to expand her community involvement. When Opportunity House board member Carol Miller called to ask him to recommend an attorney for a vacant board seat, he thought of Julie.

After touring the shelter, Learning Center, and Children’s Alliance Center (CAC) with Miller and Opportunity House executive director Modesto Fiume, “I was impressed with the mission of Opportunity House and wanted to help,” she says.

“Opportunity House fills an immediate and pressing need in this community,” she says. “I like the way that it focuses not only on homelessness, but also other issues that go hand in hand, like child care, veteran’s services, job placement, and medical treatment. I’m so pleased to be a part of this organization and I’m looking forward to deepening my involvement.”
