Second Street Learning Center Selected As Silver Champion Winner for PA Equity in Early Childhood Education Awards

Opportunity House learned that the Second Street Learning Center was selected as a SILVER champion winner for the Pennsylvania Equity in Early Childhood Education Awards by The Pennsylvania Key, an organization that supports Pennsylvania’s Office of Child Development & Early Learning. This is award is given to organizations whose work around equity is a reflection on the impact on the families and children served in our community. The Second Street Learning Center offers subsidized childcare for over 150 families in Reading. The Learning Center cares for children ranging in age from 6 weeks old to age 13.

Our STAR 4 childcare center provides quality daycare and education for the children we serve and their families. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, we are able to provide early education programs that recognize and celebrate diversity in our children and our community,” Lisa Tumbleson, VP of Childcare, Shelter and Housing said. “The services we provide are vital as they ensure our children are receiving the care they need, while also allowing their parents to pursue their careers and earn a living.”
