About Opportunity House

Thrift Store Drop-Off Donation Center Leesport, PAOpportunity House offers emergency shelter for the homeless population of Berks County. We assist 500 homeless men, women,  children, and Veterans each year. Whether residents require help securing ID, licensing, medical care, mental health or addiction counseling, job skills training, or other services, we make arrangements to help them secure it. At Opportunity House, residents receive daily meals and snacks, laundry and shower facilities, case management services, and transitional/permanent housing.

An offshoot of Opportunity House, The Second Street Learning Center offers early childhood education programs for children aged six weeks to 13 years old. The center provides high-quality educational services, allowing parents to work, attend job training, or attend classes.

OppShop, the retail thrift store operated by Opportunity House, in collaboration with our recycling warehouse, takes in used and saleable items to sell for the benefit of the shelter. All items not sold in the shelter are recycled through the warehouse.

Support Opportunity House by Shopping with OppShop

All of the proceeds made at OppShop go directly to the support of Opportunity House, but OppShop produces so many additional benefits to the community!

Sustainable Living and Shopping

By donating your gently used items to OppShop or purchasing at our store, you are actively embracing a more sustainable way of living. This is because your donations prevent these items from being discarded in a landfill, where they can take years to break down, and reduce the need for new production, which requires additional resources that contribute to pollution. Unsold items at our thrift store are recycled through our warehouse, amounting to roughly 700,000 pounds of merchandise every year.

OppShop’s commitment to high quality and low prices benefits the community. Rather than paying top dollar for brand-new retail, shop thrift whenever possible. You won’t find a better source for everyday items – from household items to clothing, gifts, costumes, and entertainment.

Thrifting is fun. Enjoy the experience and thrill of finding the perfect purchase. We regularly update our inventory, so each time you visit, you’ll likely be pleased with the treasures you find.
