OppShop – Shop with Us
OppShop is part of Opportunity House, the foremost homeless shelter for the Berks County community. Located at 3045 5th Street Highway in Reading, OppShop is a thrift store that deals in gently used, quality merchandise to support the shelter, reuse/recycle services for the community, and access to low-cost usable inventory for individuals and families of the area. We’re open Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 am-7 pm.
In support of the work done through Opportunity House, OppShop directs all of the profits from sales to the shelter; in addition, the shelter’s residents can find clothing suitable for their families within the store, which they can purchase through the shelter’s voucher program.
Not only do our shoppers find useful products in good condition at deeply discounted prices, but they also support a worthy cause of helping people experiencing homelessness and take steps toward benefitting the environment. OppShop, in collaboration with our recycling warehouse, provides reuse and recycling services. We promote the reuse of goods rather than disposal, and when our inventory doesn’t sell, we direct it to recycling through partnerships with recyclers all over the country. Every year, we recycle 700,000 pounds of merchandise.
OppShop Thrifting
Thrifting is a popular pastime. Finding treasures among the gently used inventory of OppShop is easy! New stock arrives frequently, so the more you shop with us, the more treasures you’ll discover. Never pay retail again, and never sacrifice quality by choosing OppShop.
OppShop Donations
Are you cleaning out closets or storage units? Unsure of what to do with all the great stuff you don’t need? Donate your items to OppShop. We accept a wide range of stain-free, gently worn items. Please ensure they’re all in clean, untorn, working condition before you pass them on to us. When we receive things we can’t sell, we have to use resources to deal with them, which would otherwise go toward the mission of Opportunity House.
